New 2014 Silverado Underwent Extreme Durability Testing

HINGHAM, Mass.- The Chevrolet Silverado is know for its ability to outlast the toughest tasks, but Chevy took it a step further with the latest model. The new 2014 Silverado underwent extreme durability testing to ensure it is capable of any challenge. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverados benefit from 12.5 million miles of testing, conducted before the first truck even arrived on dealership lots.

To make sure the new Silverado is even tougher than the previous generation, the 2014 Silverado underwent 12.5 million miles of extreme durability testing. The test trucks traveled from desert temperatures in Yuma, Arizona to sub-zero cold in Kapuskasing, Ontario to extreme testing at General Motors' Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan, completing more than 4 million miles of combined vehicle durability testing to push the Silverado to its limit before beginning production. Some of the tough tests included traversing the Belgian blocks, splashing through the off-road-simulation grit trough, climbing/descending a 30% grade, and driving at high speeds.

The Silverado was pushed to it's limit, loaded to gross vehicle weight in many of the tests. However, since most drivers don't drive their truck fully loaded on a regular basis, an additional fleet of test trucks racked up 8.2 million miles of real-world mileage.

Chevrolet's goal with the 2014 Silverado durability testing was to improve areas that could be improved and stick with what was already considered world class. The 2014 Chevy Silverado truck includes three key durability improvements from the pervious model.
-A high-strength steel frame that will not crack, even when loaded to full capacity.
-New four-wheel-disc brake system with Duralife brake rotors that offer double the service life and brake-tuning revisions that improve pedal feel for more confident braking performance on any driving surface.
-An anti-chip coating on the lower body side that offers extra protection from stones and gravel.

On Sunday, October 27th, trick or treating will take place from 11am-12pm and treat bags can be picked up outside of The Paper Store. Lastly, the weekend will end with a doggy costume contest at Hidden Pond from 12:30pm-1:30pm on Sunday.

Siri Eyes Free Integration Expands Among Chevy Vehicles

HINGHAM, Mass.-With an announcement earlier this week, Chevrolet revealed that their new MyLink infotainment system integration will make staying connected even easier for drivers, while also staying safe behind the wheel. Siri Eyes Free Integration is expanding among Chevy vehicles to six new 2014 models, including the 2014 Camaro, Cruze, Equinox, Malibu, SS, and Volt!

The smaller Chevrolet Sonic and Spark were the first two cars to integrate the Siri Eyes Free technology. After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from Sonic and Spark drivers, the automaker decided to expand Siri Eyes Free Integration among Chevy Vehicles! While most smartphone users have interacted with Siri, and many drivers are now familiar with vehicle infotainment systems, the new Siri Eyes Free mode blends the capabilities of both technologies to enhance the in-car experience.

Chevrolet's Siri Eyes Free Integration works in a similar manner to how iPhone users interact with Siri outside of the vehicle. Those with compatible iPhones can instruct Siri to complete various tasks through the MyLink infotainment system simply by using their voice. To ensure distractions are at a minimum and drivers don't have to glance at their phone each time it lights up, the Siri Eyes Free mode actually prevents the phone's screen from lighting up.

To enable Siri Eyes Free mode in your compatible 2014 Chevrolet vehicle, make sure your iPhone is paired with the MyLink system via Bluetooth, and then you can use the voice activation button on the steering wheel to have Siri make voice-activated, hands-free calls; play songs and control music sources from iTunes/AM/FM/XM; listen to, compose, and send text messages; and access calendars to add appointments.

Sneak Peek: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Spy Shots

HINGHAM, Mass.- When news broke that the Chevy Colorado would be coming back to the United States, truck fans rejoiced. Now with the latest sneak peek: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado spy shots, we're getting the closest look yet at what the midsize pickup truck may look like. The spotted 2015 Colorado prototype specifically revealed a closer look at the front and rear ends.

Spotted with less camouflage than before, the U.S. prototype appears to have a bolder grille than the current global model, which will aesthetically tie it to the full-size Silverado 1500 and HD models. However, differing from the full-size models are the 2015 Colorado's headlights which aren't the split full-height style. Although the shape of the headlight housing is still disguised, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado sneak peek spy shots reveal that the prototype's headlights feature round projectors. Compared to the earlier Colorado model, the 2015 edition features a similar cab and bed shape. But around back, the latest spy shots reveal the truck's tailgate which is designed with a small lip at the top.

Under the hood, details have not yet been confirmed. The global Colorado models are powered exclusively by diesel engines, however, the U.S. model could receive a four- or six-cylinder engine, along with the possibility of a turbodiesel four-cylinder. It won't be long until we know for sure since production of the 2015 Chevy Colorado is expected to begin in early 2014!

With the two new concepts, the automaker took a look inside the extremes of preparedness. Chevy's new extreme concept trucks are both based on the 2014 Silverado full-size pickup. The new Volunteer Firefighter is dedicated to volunteer first responders, and the Black Ops Concept is dedicated to ultimate survival.

To develop the Silverado Z71 Volunteer Firefighter concept truck that honors the service of first responders, Chevrolet received input from the National Volunteer Fire Council. Utilizing the 2014 Silverado Double Cab with added Z71 Off Road suspension, the extreme concept truck is equipped with a complete supply of rescue equipment.

On the other extreme, Chevrolet developed the Black Ops Concept with ultimate survival in mind. Designed to turn a wasteland into an oasis, the Black Ops improves the strength, performance, and safety on the Silverado Crew Cab 4x4. Equipped with custom-fabricated lower body armor, a lockable, bed-mounted Truck Vault storage unit, solar power pack, pair of gas masks, gloves, military first aid kit, folding shovel and rope, you're prepared for survival in the most extreme situation.

2013 Hingham High School Homecoming Schedule

HINGHAM, Mass.- It's that time of year again, school is back in session and homecoming is right around the corner! Hingham High School will be buzzing with spirit next week as the students get ready for the big football game on Friday and this year's homecoming dance on Saturday!

Next week, spirit week at Hingham High School begins as the students gear up for one of the most exciting events on their calendar this Fall. Spirit week will start out with USA Day on Monday; Think Pink, Wear Pink, PINK OUT on Tuesday, PJ Day on Wednesday, Class Color Day on Thursday, and then Read & White HHS Day on Friday! For Class Color Day, the color assignments are as follows: Seniors-red, Juniors-blue, Sophomores-black, and Freshmen-white.

The week will culminate on Friday evening as Hingham High School's football team takes the field at 7:00pm for a huge game against Duxbury at Scituate High School. It's considered a home game for HHS and students can buy their tickets in advance on Friday during lunch.

Finally on Saturday, students will head out for a night of fun at the Homecoming Dance which starts at 7:00pm and ends at 10pm. The dance will take place at Hingham High School and tickets can be bought during lunch on Monday-Thursday for $10.

Updated 2015 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe

HINGHAM, Mass.- The Chevrolet Suburban, going on it's 12th generation, is the longest running nameplate in the auto industry at 80 consecutive years! And while its slightly shorter counterpart, the Chevy Tahoe, is a bit younger headed into it's 5th generation, both models haven't been updated since back in 2007! With no major changes, Current SUV owners have had their rides for sometime now, and Chevy is about to serve that pent-up demand with the updated 2015 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe!

The updated 2015 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban both received similar styling changes, but the major difference between the two SUV's is that the Suburban is a bit longer, allowing more space for passengers and cargo. The updated SUV's were redesigned to appear more "sporty," and while some of the changes may be subtle, they have a significant impact. For example, every body panel on the 2015 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban have been redesigned. Most notable are the obviously different front ends and headlights, but the doors and side glass have also been styled to fit into the bodyside, rather than wrapping up into the roof. The glass is more flush which allows for a smoother overall look along the sides of the vehicle, creating a more squared-off look and improving interior space.

Both the 2015 Tahoe and Suburban are powered by GM's Ecotec3 5.3-liter V8 engine which provides 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft of torque. The engine's cylinder deactivation is noted for improving fuel economy, though the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe gas mileage details have not yet been released. But the Chevy SUV's are still just as capable with towing capacity rating of 8,500 pounds for 2015 Tahoe two-wheel-drive models and 8,300 pounds for four-wheel-drive versions. The lengthier 2015 Suburban has been rated at 8,300 pounds for two-wheel-drive models and 8,000 pounds for four-wheel drive versions.

To match the impressive exterior updates, the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban have been slightly redesigned on the inside too. In the front seat, drivers will enjoy the revised console that feels more "carlike" and features significantly higher-quality materials. Similar to the new Chevy Impala, an available 8-inch touch-screen features Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system and has the ability to slide up, offering storage space behind the screen. Plus, second-row passengers can relax a little more with two extra inches of legroom and available Blu-ray player with 9-inch screen, five auxiliary power sockets, 110-volt power outlet and six USB outlets for personal electronics. If it's cargo space you're looking for, the new back seat technology makes it a breeze. At the touch of a button, the new third-row power fold-flat seat folds down into the cargo area, while another switch folds down the second-row, creating a relatively flat load floor.

Most importantly, safety is a top priority for Chevrolet so the 2015 Suburban and Tahoe feature new driver assist technologies as well. Some of the high-tech updates include forward collision alert, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, a safety alert seat, front and rear park assist, and center side airbags in the front.
